London's newest Rainforest themed spot
Brazilian Rainforest comes to London
Last week I had the pleasure of experiencing Amazonico, a lush, rainforest-themed restaurant that opened in Berkeley Square Mayfair recently.
“Amazonico is a journey, a trip down the Amazon river through Brazil, Colombia, Peru.” Says the Cofounder and Chef Sandro Silva.
On first arrival I was greeted by elegant hostesses in emerald green jumpsuits (Lots of emerald all around the restaurant) before being ushered to our table towards the rear of the restaurant which home the live band who provided the most delightful jazz sounds during dinner.

The food was quite a mix with the menu featuring raw fish, steaks and what seems to be an avocado obsession (everything from the dipping sauces and Ice cream was avocado flavoured!) and familiar favourites such as Plantain & Cassava which kept to the South American theme. I selected the delightful Yuca Frita (fried cassava) along with Arroz Chaufa (black and white whole grain rice, grilled duck and fried egg) which tasted far better than expected. One of my favourites of the evening was the beautifully presented and robustly flavoured baked chicken rolls with a mint and Yogurt Dip! Desert was nothing to write about with the hot chocolate fondant with avocado ice cream that is as expected- not that nice due to too much sea salt and dark chocolate pieces (I seriously finished it to avoid wastage)
All in all, the presence of so many staff members was quite overwhelming along with the constant flow of staff fixing, filling up our drinks and asking if we needed anything ( there were more staff than guests at 7pm on a Friday) The food was flavourful and portion sizes reasonable for Mayfair. Amazonico isn’t subtle in any sense so if you are looking for somewhere instagramable, with a good vibe and the glitz and glamour of Mayfair then come on by with an open mind, some money, a group of friends or for date night and Amazonico is the most fun.
Would I go back? Probably. Maybe. I don’t know.
